Ron Weinstein - Guitar, bass, harmonica, vocals
As it was for so many kids across the country, who were glued to their black & white TV-sets on that cold February night, in 1964... it was too, for a 7-year-old Ron Weinstein, a 'defining-moment'. When the family gathered in their Long Branch, New Jersey living room, to watch the 'usual' Sunday-night "Ed Sullivan Show", he witnessed something that 'forever changed his life'. Ed introduced 'The Beatles' not only to America... but to the young, 'transfixed' Ronnie; Here were these four singing, gyrating, 'mop-topped-spectacles' on his TV, fueled by a throng of cute, mini-skirted girls, screaming uncontrollably from the audience... for reasons perhaps unknown even to THEM, at the time!
It was 'right then and there' that the course was 'set' for what Ron wanted to do for the rest of his life! A week later, he and his Dad made their maiden-pilgrimage to Red Bank Music... and returned with 'the prize'... Dad bought his effervescent-son his first electric guitar, a black & chrome "Coral-Danelectro Hornet"... and 3 weeks hence, Ron was fronting his first genuine rock & roll band. In watching Paul McCartney, the young Weinstein sensed a 'kindred-spirit'... and was intent on becoming a stage-performing, friendly, baby-faced-misfit... one that would be able to scream everyone else; older AND bigger... right into the weeds!
After performing professionally in many bands and as a solo-act for nearly a lifetime, Ron discovered his own 'inner-calling'; Influenced by Sir Paul's 'one man band' method of playing and overdubbing bass, drums, piano, guitars, and vocals in his home studio... Ron set up his own 'shop'... and was finally creating his OWN music! Within months of writing his first compositions, he was signed by a 6-time 'Grammy-Award' winning music-publisher and was soon named "New Jersey Songwriter of the Year" by Garageband.com.
In an odd 'twist of fate', Ron is now good friends with Sid Bernstein... the promoter who actually 'brought the Beatles to America'. Bernstein has presented Ron at several concerts in the New York-area... and when doing-so, has introduced him as 'The Kid' who sings & plays exactly like Paul McCartney"! Ron's sentiment... "God love-ya, Sid"!
Ron has honed his songwriting skills steadily over the years and recently had his original compositions utilized in features on the A & E Network as well as in an Oprah Winfrey TV-movie, not to mention many-more corporate A/V productions.
Discovered in the summer of 2006 by fellow Kootz-man Chris Roselle, at a venue where both were performing as solo acts, Ron is very happy to bring his energetic voice and stage personna to "The Kootz"... Ron felt that there was an 'immediate connection' with the band and is quite 'at home' with adding his singing, playing... and even songwriting talents to The Kootz 'family'!
Ron lives in Oakhurst, NJ with his lovely wife Daniela and their two children.
Catch 'Sir' Ron-W at a Kootz-show soon... He's a 'Scream'!
