Andrei Koribanics - drums, vocals

A long-time friend of 'The Kootz', prior to enlisting with the band, Andrei Koribanics is the sole-musician, from a family of 'avid listeners'. It's a good-thing, too, because from the time of his birth in Clifton, New Jersey in, 1986, he had an early... and constant exposure to 'Great American and British Music'. The Koribanics-household was often filled with the strains of anything from Barbara Streisand (Mom's preference) to the 'coffee-table-shaking-sounds' of The Who (Dad, who-else?) with a lot of Beatles in-between, on their home-stereo! Young-Andrei soaked-up the diversity of each and every artist like a sponge...

After moving to the suburban-idyll of Wayne, NJ at the tender young age of 5, Andrei's 'Musical-Wonder-Years' included many-a 'basement-jam' and musical-'after-school special'... Surprisingly, this lad didn't start 'regular-gigging' til the 'ripe old age' of 20! Along the way, 'Drei explored several instruments; guitar, bass, clarinet, and piano. It wasn't until he was 14, that AK became 'drum-centric', participating and 'percussing' in the school concert-band and jazz-ensembles... He hasn't looked-back since!

After a short stint at The University of Massachusetts, Andrei sought-to 'strengthen' his musical-foundation and embarked-upon jazz-studies at Jersey City University from 2008 to 2012. While there, he had the privilege of performing alongside such notable guest-mentor/artists as trumpeter, Tom Harrell, saxophonist Dave Liebman and pianist/bandleader/composer Arturo O'Farrill...

'Drei has continued to develop and apply his skills, drawing on influences from some of his favorite artists; Led Zeppelin, Steely Dan and jazz-legend Herbie Hancock to name a few. He has also loaned his 'percussive-gifts' to many New Jersey 'acts-on-the-circuit', including The Brother Sal Trio, The John Ginty Band, Sharp Edge, Elizabeth Hunter, Charlie Jones, Joe Taino, Mike Lawlor, Arnie England, Dean Shot, Poor Man's Opera and The Earthgrinders, as well-as Ghost and The Big Sky.

"The Kootz" are proud to add their-'moniker' to that list of AK's credits, now.

By day, Andrei has worked in sales at Guitar Center, as an instructor at The School of Rock in Wayne (as-well-as Montclair)... and more-recently in Hoboken at The Drum Den.

Mr.-K's avocations include reading as well as classic films. He is a self-proclaimed "foodie", aspiring to become a part-time chef! It would seem that 'Andrei-K' has 'just'-the-recipe... for 'holding the groove-down', for "The Kootz"-band!!!
