Bob Cianci - Drums, vocals

Bob Cianci lives in northwestern New Jersey and has played with fellow-Kootz Glenn Taylor, Chris Bolger and Chris Breetveld on many occasions since the mid-seventies.

He first picked up drumsticks at the age of seven and began studying drums as a teenager with the late Carl Wolf, renowned percussion teacher from Bloomfield, NJ. Bob played in several garage-rock bands in the late sixties and graduated from Lynchburg College in Virginia, where he was also quite musically active.

Throughout the seventies and eighties, Bob played in a series of rock and country bands... and in 1985, organized The Roosters, one of the area's first 'roots-rock 'n-soul' bands. The Roosters worked the northern NJ club circuit for years and finally split in 1998. Shortly thereafter, in 1999, Bob played with future-Kootz members Chris Breetveld and Chris Bolger in a band called "Big Bang Theory". He has now joined forces once again with Glenn Taylor as well as his 'now-Kootzifed'-former-Bing-Bang-Theory-buddies Chris and Chris... Bob says, "I love The 'Kootz-selection' of well-known material... It covers the whole spectrum of classic rock and soul! ... Always a fun gig!"

Over the years, Bob has also had the opportunity to play with such well-known players like; Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame members The Yardbirds, former David Bowie guitarist Mick Ronson, New York City bluesmen Jon Paris, Bobby Kyle and Michael Hill...as well as central Jersey blues guitarist Johnny Charles, slide guitarist Mike Esposito, Nashville session greats Curley Chaulker and Jeff Newman... and even members of Bob Dylan's "Rolling Thunder Revue".

Bob plays and endorses DW drums, Pro-Mark sticks, Evans drum heads and Bosphorus cymbals.

Mr Cianci is also an active freelance music journalist. His reviews and articles have appeared in Modern Drummer, Blues Revue, Blues Access, Vintage Guitar, Blue Suede News, Blues Matters!, The River Reporter and many other magazines, newspapers and web sites. He is also the author of the book "Great Rock Drummers Of The Sixties", which was initially published in 1990.

Don't miss Bobby C. on a Kootz gig... He is the "Keeper... of the rock'n-soul flame"!
