Joe Alexander - Guitar, vocals

Singer/rhythm guitarist Joe Alexander comes to The Kootz as a long time friend of Chris Bolger, having worked in two previous bands with him (The New Nairobi Trio, and The Piranha Brothers). Prior to that, Joe was with a band called The Zoo Crew (later renamed The Madcaps to avoid association with Z100 radio) for 9 years. This band played covers and originals, and performed at venues as varied as Kenny's Castaways, CBGB, and Joe Pop's to The Ocean County Plumbing Supply Convention and the Mixed Bag Mixers Bowling League annual awards dinner. (Chris was a kind of "5th Madcap" for a lot of those years).

Born in 1959, Joe became a huge Beatle fan at a young age (He remembers the first Ed Sullivan appearance, though only age 4), and though he likes lots of music, he prefers stuff with "jangly guitars". Joe's other musical interest is religious music, and he is a member of the parish choir of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Clark.

A "Theology teacher by day, Rock n' Roller by night", Joe also serves as chairperson of the Theology Department at Seton Hall Prep in West Orange. He is married to the beautiful and wonderful Debbie, since 1989, and has 4 beautiful and wonderful children, Peter, Shannon, Erin and Luke!
