Pete Danese - drums, vocals

A long-time veteran of the north-New Jersey music-scene, Pete Danese was born on November 23, 1954, in the suburban-hamlet of Dumont, NJ (back when they actually had a hospital, there!)...

After spending a few formative, 'toddling'-years in Palisades Park, Pete and his famiy moved to Ridgefield, NJ where his early 'musical-influences' would 'take-root'...

PD's musical-career commenced with lessons on the accordian, at the tender age of 8, under the 'parental-tutelage' of his dad, Ensio, (a master accordianist). After 3 years of 'not practicing enough'... and eventually wanting a 'cooler'-instrument, Pete's decision to switch-over to the drums was made!

With dad always guiding Pete's music-career, in the background, Pops arranged for drum lessons from some of Bergen County's finest 'percussive-instructors'...  Richie Satriano and Harry Sabonjian were among the first... Pete later-studied with Joe Cass (Four Seasons) and finally 'The Master', Sonny Igoe (CBS staff, Carol Burnett & Woody Herman).

Some initial musical-influences were, of course, The Beatles... as well as The Jimi Hendrix Experience's Mitch Mitchell and later, The Doors.  Jazz-drummers Buddy Rich and Joe Morello also played-into Pete's 'percussive-lexicon'!

Mr. 'D" has been fortunate to work with many local bands since the mid-70s... and had after graduating high school in 1972, achieved great-success playing with his long-time friends 'from the old-Ridgefield-'hood'... TAXI (formerly Thorin Oak), which included landing a 'label-deal' with Decca Records in 1981!

TAXI still plays a few reunions annually to this day... and counts among it's roster, other Kootz-members; Al Egizi, Jerry DeLisio and Paul 'Swami' Simeone.

As one 'busy-stick-man', Pete is also active in several NJ-musical entities, such as My Buddy Paul, The Nice band, Trashed BBQ and The Tim Gysin band.

This is one 'Classic Rockin'-guy!  He loves the repertoire & vibe of bringing such great music to life with "The Kootz"!  We can only say we're so-pleased to have this 'veteran' join us!

Pete, his wife Kathy and family reside in Bergen County, NJ.
